Chef Richard Nickless

Chef Richard Nickless, CEC, CCA, AAC, CDM, CFPP

Chef Richard Nickless, an adjunct instructor at the Culinary Institute of Charleston holds an Associate in Science in Culinary Arts from Johnson and Wales and is a Certified Executive Chef. Additionally, Chef Nickless is a Certified Serv-Safe Trainer, Dietary Manager, Food Protector and Professional, Culinary Administrator. Chef Nickless was inducted into the American Academy of Chefs in 2003.

In his current position as Supply and Services Director of the Department of Disabilities and Special Needs, Chef Nickless’ is responsible for the plans, operations, and evaluation of dietary, housekeeping and procurement needs of the Coastal Center.  Chef Nickless has an extensive background in health and wellness programs with over 20 years experience in dietary service leadership positions at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and Healthcare Manager for US Foodservice.  Chef Nickless has served as an advisor to various schools and organizations in the lowcountry area including: Stratford High School; Garrett Academy; Greater Charleston Restaurant Association; National Association of Catering Executives; and the Berkley, Dorchester, and Charleston County Culinary Committee. Chef Nickless has also served with distinction as the President of the American Culinary Federation.
